Authorised Bose Professional Dealer — DesignMax, FreeSpace, EdgeMax & ControlSpace
Background music is the hardest thing in commercial audio to do well. It has to be everywhere and nowhere — even across the room, clear at conversational levels, never harsh when it is turned up for the evening, and invisible in a finished interior. Bose Professional has spent decades solving precisely that problem, and its DesignMax, FreeSpace and EdgeMax loudspeakers, PowerShare amplifiers and ControlSpace processing remain the reference for restaurants, hotels, retail and workplaces worldwide. Audio Dynamics is an authorised Bose Professional dealer in Bangalore: we design the coverage, specify the loudspeakers, amplification and zoning, install the system and tune it in the room.
Three loudspeaker families and one electronics platform cover almost every background-music brief:
DesignMax is the range we specify most often. Every model uses coaxial two-way drivers mounted in Bose’s Dispersion Alignment system, so they deliver clear, intelligible highs and surprisingly full low end without DSP or EQ correction — and because the whole family shares a voicing, ceiling, surface and pendant models can be mixed through a building with no audible change as guests move between areas. In-ceiling models install on QuickHold mounting arms, which one person can fit from below.
DM2C-LP — 20 W, 2.25-inch transducer, 85 Hz – 19 kHz, in a low-profile backcan for tight ceiling voids. The discreet option for corridors, lifts and small rooms.
DM3C & DM5C — 30 W with a 3.5-inch woofer (75 Hz – 20 kHz) and 60 W with a 5.25-inch woofer (65 Hz – 20 kHz). The DM5C is the workhorse of most restaurant, retail and office installations.
DM6C & DM8C — 6.5-inch and 8-inch models for larger or louder rooms. The DM8C handles 150 W and pairs an 8-inch woofer with a centre-firing 1-inch compression driver, reaching 52 Hz – 20 kHz — enough for genuine foreground music.
Surface & pendant — DM3SE, DM5SE, DM6SE, DM8SE and DM12SE surface-mount models (several outdoor rated, the DM5SE to IP55) for exposed ceilings and walls; DM3P, DM5P and DM6PE pendants with a recessed single-point suspension for open, industrial and double-height interiors, in black or white.
Subwoofers — DM8C-SUB in-ceiling, DM10S-SUB surface (300 W, 10-inch, 35 – 125 Hz) and DM10P-SUB pendant, to add weight where music matters more than wallpaper.
FreeSpace is the line that made Bose the default choice for commercial background music, and it is still specified daily — particularly where installations need weather protection or voice-alarm certification. The range was recently updated: all FS models carry new SKUs and certification has moved from UL 1480 to UL 1480A, which means the ceiling models can now be painted to match a finished ceiling.
FS2C & FS4CE — in-ceiling models at 16 W and 40 W long-term continuous power. The FS4CE is rated IP55 for outdoor and wet installations and is certified to EN 54-24 for voice alarm systems, with a perforated steel grille and engineered-plastics baffle that resists UV fade.
FS2SE & FS4SE — the surface-mount versions at 16 W and 40 W, for exposed ceilings, walls and covered outdoor areas where there is no void to recess into.
FS2P — a 16 W pendant for open-plan and high-ceiling spaces on a simple suspended mount.
FreeSpace 360P Series II — an 80 W full-range landscape loudspeaker for in-ground or surface installation, with a tamper-resistant design and heavy-duty enclosure. It withstands sand, snow, rain and salt from −40°C to 70°C, and survives the salt fog test 66% longer than the marine industry standard — a sound choice for gardens, poolsides and coastal properties.
EdgeMax solves a problem every designer knows: a room that needs even, full-range sound but cannot have loudspeakers scattered across the middle of a feature ceiling. Dual drivers and Bose’s patented PhaseGuide® technology project sound from the room’s edges towards its centre, so a handful of units mounted at the perimeter cover the whole space — with the directionality and voice intelligibility of much larger surface-mount boxes.
EM180 — 75° vertical by 180° horizontal coverage, for mounting along a wall edge; 125 W continuous, 114 dB calculated maximum SPL.
EM90 — 75° vertical by 90° horizontal, for corners; 125 W continuous, 117 dB calculated maximum SPL.
Both use a passive 1 kHz crossover and wall-boundary loading for greater output. The deeper 9-inch backcans of the EM models suit rooms with higher ceilings and higher SPL requirements — fitness studios, atriums and double-height hospitality spaces — while the LP versions fit shallow ceiling voids.
The loudspeakers are half the system. What makes background music work day to day is what sits in the rack — correct power to each zone, automatic level compensation, a schedule that runs itself and controls simple enough for staff to use.
PowerShare amplifiers — PS404D and PS604D deliver 400 W and 600 W and share that total across their output channels, so a quiet corridor zone and a busy restaurant zone can draw very different power from one amplifier instead of forcing an oversized channel count. Both offer onboard DSP and Dante networking; the PowerShareX models (PSX1204D, PSX2404D and PSX4804D) scale the same idea to larger properties.
FreeSpace IZA zone amplifiers — compact integrated zone amplifiers for smaller sites: the IZA 190-HZ gives 90 W at 70V/100V for a single zone, and the IZA 2120-HZ provides two independent 120 W zones. Both are designed to sit out of the way where there is no rack.
CSP-428 & CSP-1248 commercial sound processors — four-input and twelve-input processors built for quick-turn installations needing music and microphone reinforcement. AutoVolume adjusts levels in real time as ambient noise changes, SmartBass keeps the balance right as levels move, and the time scheduler automates source and level changes through the day so nobody has to remember.
ControlSpace — for larger or more complex sites, ControlSpace EX processors, ControlSpace Designer software and CC-16 / CC-64 wall controllers give full multi-zone routing, paging priority and user control.
DesignMax coaxial drivers sit in Bose’s Dispersion Alignment system, giving clear highs and full low end straight out of the box — no corrective EQ needed to make a ceiling speaker sound like music rather than a paging horn.
EdgeMax projects sound from the edge of a room to its centre, covering the space from the perimeter. Fewer loudspeakers, nothing in the middle of a designed ceiling, and even coverage for every listener.
Ceiling, surface, pendant and outdoor models share a voicing, so a guest walking from lobby to restaurant to terrace hears the same music the same way — the detail that separates a designed system from an assembled one.
AutoVolume tracks ambient noise, SmartBass holds the tonal balance, and the scheduler changes sources and levels through the day. Staff get a simple wall control; the system handles the rest.
Restaurants, cafes and bars; hotels and resorts — lobbies, all-day dining, banquet spaces, spas, poolsides and landscaped grounds; retail stores and showrooms; corporate offices, receptions and cafeterias; fitness studios and gyms; clinics and waiting areas; houses of worship. Most projects combine ranges: DesignMax through the interiors, FreeSpace or 360P outdoors, EdgeMax where the ceiling is a feature — all zoned from one rack with paging where it is needed.
Yes. Audio Dynamics is an authorised Bose Professional dealer and commercial systems integrator based in Bangalore. We design, supply, install and commission Bose Professional background music and paging systems, and you are welcome to discuss your project at our Experience Center in Koramangala.
DesignMax is the current-generation background and foreground music range — twelve models from a 2.25-inch low-profile ceiling speaker to an 8-inch high-SPL model, in ceiling, surface and pendant versions. FreeSpace is the long-established line still widely specified, including IP55 and EN 54-24 rated models for wet areas and voice alarm. EdgeMax uses patented PhaseGuide technology to throw sound from the edge of a room to its centre, covering a space with fewer loudspeakers and no visible boxes on the walls.
It depends on ceiling height, the level you want and how even the coverage must be — not on floor area alone. A higher ceiling means each loudspeaker covers a wider circle but needs more output. We model the layout so music sits at a consistent level everywhere, with no loud spots under a speaker and no dead zones between them, then confirm it by measurement after installation.
Yes — that is what zoning is for. A processor such as the CSP-428 or CSP-1248, or a ControlSpace system with PowerShare amplifiers, lets each area have its own source and level. A lobby, restaurant, bar and terrace can run independently, with wall controllers where staff need them and a scheduler that changes source and level automatically through the day.
With AutoVolume it will. The Bose Professional commercial sound processors monitor ambient noise in real time and adjust levels to suit, so music sits correctly over a quiet afternoon and a full evening service without staff touching a control. SmartBass keeps the tonal balance consistent as levels change.
Yes. FreeSpace models such as the FS4CE are rated IP55 for outdoor and wet installations, several DesignMax surface-mount models are outdoor rated, and the FreeSpace 360P Series II is an 80 W landscape loudspeaker for in-ground or surface installation that withstands sand, rain, salt and temperatures from −40°C to 70°C.
Yes. Microphone paging with priority over music is standard in the commercial sound processors, and selected FreeSpace models are certified to EN 54-24 for voice alarm systems where that standard is required. We specify the appropriate models when life-safety announcements form part of the brief.
Tell us about the space — the areas, ceiling heights, whether music needs to change through the day and whether paging is required — and we will design the coverage, specify the loudspeakers, amplification and control, install it and tune it in the room. Talk to us about your project.
