Powersoft Amplifier Platforms

Authorised Powersoft Dealer — PRIMA, MEZZO, Quattrocanali, Duecanali, UNICA, T & X Series

The amplifier is where an installed sound system either earns its keep or quietly wastes it — in rack space, in mains draw, in heat, and in the number of boxes a site has to look after for the next ten years. Powersoft, founded in Florence in 1995, has spent three decades making that part of the system smaller, cooler and more intelligent than anyone expected it could be: Class D amplification with onboard DSP, Dante and AES67 networking, power that moves between channels as the load demands, and a software layer that turns the amplifier rack into the whole signal chain. Audio Dynamics is an authorised Powersoft dealer in Bangalore. We specify the platform for the loudspeakers and the room, configure the processing in ArmoníaPlus, install and commission the system and hand it over tuned and monitored.

Which Powersoft platform suits your project?

Powersoft builds one family of amplifiers in several sizes. The right one depends on how many zones or loudspeakers you are driving, how much power each needs, and whether the system is a fixed installation or has to travel:

  • PRIMA — half-rack, four channels, 160 W or 320 W. Background music for a cafe, store, classroom or office floor, with no processing to configure.
  • MEZZO — half-rack, two or four channels, 320 W or 600 W, with DSP and optional Dante. The engine of a multi-zone music system in a restaurant, hotel or fitness club.
  • Quattrocanali & Duecanali — 1RU, 1,200 W to 9,600 W. Full-rack install amplifiers for banquet halls, auditoriums, worship, large retail and outdoor areas.
  • UNICA — 1RU, four or eight channels, 1,000 W to 16,000 W, with redundant Dante networking and cloud monitoring. The platform for performance venues, arenas, large hotels and immersive rooms.
  • T Series, X Series & UNICA T — touring and live-sound amplifiers with full loudspeaker management on board, for rental inventories, clubs and theatres.
  • Nota, WM Touch & Dynamic Music Distribution — a two-channel amplifier powered over Ethernet, a wall-mounted touchscreen, and the software that lets the amplifiers themselves run a zoned music system.

PRIMA Series

PRIMA 164 & PRIMA 324 — four channels in half a rack space

PRIMA is the newest and simplest Powersoft install amplifier: four channels, no DSP to configure, and a half-rack chassis that fits behind a counter, in a ceiling void or on a shelf with the mounting kit. It is the right answer for the many rooms that need clean, reliable low-to-mid power and nothing more — a cafe, a boutique, a classroom block, a reception and a meeting room on the same floor.

PRIMA 164 — 160 W total, 40 W per channel into 4 Ω, 8 Ω, 70 V or 100 V. With Power Sharing a single channel can draw up to 110 W into 8 Ω when its neighbours are lightly loaded.

PRIMA 324 — 320 W total, 80 W per channel into 4 Ω, 8 Ω and 70 V (70 W at 100 V), rising to 220 W into 8 Ω on an asymmetrically loaded channel.

Both models set themselves up: Auto Setup measures the connected loudspeakers and configures each output for low-impedance or distributed-line operation, Eco Mode and Auto Standby cut idle consumption, and a GPI contact lets a building system put the amplifier to sleep. Every channel works into 4 Ω, 8 Ω, 70 V or 100 V, so one PRIMA can drive a pair of surface-mount speakers in the bar and a 100 V string of ceiling speakers in the corridor at the same time.

MEZZO Series

MEZZO 322, 324, 602 & 604 — the multi-zone workhorse

MEZZO is the amplifier we specify most often for hospitality and retail. It is the same half-rack size as PRIMA but adds a full DSP on every channel, so the amplifier itself handles the equalisation, delay, limiting and zone routing that used to need a separate processor in the rack. Four MEZZO models cover two or four channels at 320 W or 600 W total, and each channel can be set to 4 Ω, 8 Ω, 70 V or 100 V independently.

Power Sharing is what makes a small MEZZO go a long way: the total output is pooled, so a channel feeding a busy dining room can draw up to 320 W while the channel feeding a quiet corridor takes what it needs. In practice that means one 604 can run four zones that would otherwise have needed two conventional amplifiers.

Three versions — A with DSP and analogue inputs; A+ adding AES67 networked audio; AD adding Dante and AES67 with a built-in two-port Gigabit switch, so a Dante network can daisy-chain through several amplifiers without a separate switch in every rack. Auto Setup measures the loudspeakers on first power-up, and third-party control integrations, including a Control4 driver, let the system sit inside a building’s automation.

The mounting kit fits MEZZO to a rack tray, a wall or a ceiling, and a plenum-rated adapter is available where the amplifier has to live above a false ceiling.

Quattrocanali & Duecanali

Four-channel and two-channel 1RU install amplifiers, 800 W to 9,600 W

When the room is a ballroom, an auditorium, a church, a large showroom or a resort’s outdoor areas, the half-rack amplifiers give way to Powersoft’s full-width install platforms. Both are a single rack unit high and weigh 7 kg, and both share the same engineering: a universal power-factor-corrected supply that tolerates poor mains, a fixed-frequency output stage, a thermally forecast variable-speed fan and the patented Smart Rails Management that recycles reactive energy from the loudspeakers instead of burning it off as heat.

Quattrocanali — four channels. The 1204 (1,200 W), 2404 (2,400 W), 4804 (4,800 W) and 8804 (9,600 W) each drive 4 Ω, 8 Ω or 70 V / 100 V lines on every channel, with channels bridgeable in pairs for a large subwoofer or a long distributed line.

Duecanali — two channels for bigger loads. The 804 (800 W), 1604 (1,600 W), 4804 (4,800 W) and 6404 (6,400 W) put the whole budget behind two outputs, which suits a pair of main loudspeakers, a subwoofer pair or two long 100 V runs across a campus.

Each model comes as DSP, DSP+ (adding AES67) or DSP+D (adding Dante). The onboard processing gives every channel its own equaliser, delay up to 100 ms for time alignment, high-pass filters and peak, RMS and TruePower limiters, and Active DampingControl compensates for long cable runs so a loudspeaker 80 metres from the rack is driven as tightly as one next to it. Everything is configured and monitored in ArmoníaPlus or from the amplifier’s web app.

UNICA Platform

UNICA 8M & 4L — the flagship install platform, 1,000 W to 16,000 W in 1RU

UNICA is Powersoft’s third-generation amplifier and the one to specify when the system is large, networked and expected to run for years without anyone standing in front of the rack. Eight models span two families: UNICA 8M with eight channels — 1K8, 2K8, 4K8 and 8K8, from 125 W to 1,000 W per channel — and UNICA 4L with four high-power channels — 5K4, 9K4, 12K4 and 16K4, from 1,250 W to 4,000 W per channel. All in a single rack unit.

What sets UNICA apart is the infrastructure around the amplification. Three Gigabit ports support Dante in switched or split-redundant topologies, so a performance venue’s primary and secondary audio networks both land on the amplifier. A PoE input keeps the network and logic alive through a mains failure, so the system reports the fault rather than vanishing. A front-panel display shows status without a laptop, Eco Mode idles channels that are not in use, and Easy Swap restores a full configuration from a USB stick in minutes if a unit ever has to be replaced.

UNICA connects to MyUniverso, Powersoft’s cloud platform, which lets us monitor the amplifiers in a client’s building from our office — impedance, temperature, mains and load faults — and respond before anyone on site has noticed. It is also Dolby Atmos Connect ready, and a Maritime Kit brings it to IEC 60945 compliance for vessels.

T Series, X Series & UNICA T

Touring and live-sound amplifiers with loudspeaker management on board

For clubs, theatres, event companies and rental inventories, Powersoft’s touring platforms carry the complete loudspeaker processing chain inside the amplifier — crossovers, FIR filters, delay and limiting — so a system goes out of the warehouse with its presets loaded and comes back in the same state.

T Series — the cost-effective 1RU touring amplifier, in two-channel (T302, T602, T902) and four-channel (T304, T604, T904) versions at 3,000 W, 6,000 W and above, delivering 1,500 W per channel into 2 Ω or 4 Ω and bridging to 3,000 W. AES3 and Dante inputs, raised-cosine group EQ, 42.6 ms FIR filters and preset compatibility with the X Series, controlled from ArmoníaPlus or the built-in web app.

X Series — the reference touring amplifier for large-format systems. The four-channel X4 and X4L and the eight-channel X8 provide 1,600 W per channel into 8 Ω and up to 40,000 W total, with a three-phase-capable power supply, a full routing matrix with four selectable sources per channel, native AES3 and optional Dante. Powersoft’s loudspeaker preset library in ArmoníaPlus covers more than a thousand models from the major manufacturers.

UNICA T — the touring edition of the UNICA platform. The UNICA 4T delivers 20.8 kW across four channels and the 8T 10 kW across eight, both in 1RU, with Dante embedded, galvanically isolated HyperCMRR inputs for noise immunity on long festival snakes, and a 116 dBA signal-to-noise ratio — the quietest amplifier Powersoft makes.

Nota, WM Touch & Dynamic Music Distribution

The pieces that turn amplifiers into a zoned music system

Dynamic Music Distribution is Powersoft’s name for something quietly radical: because every MEZZO, Quattrocanali, Duecanali and UNICA already has a DSP and a network port, the amplifiers can be the whole multi-zone system. Sources are routed to zones, levels and scenes are set, and staff controls are assigned in the install view of ArmoníaPlus — with no separate matrix processor in the rack. A hotel with a lobby, all-day dining, a bar, a spa and a pool deck runs on a handful of amplifiers and a wall panel in each area.

Nota 142 — a two-channel, 140 W amplifier small enough to sit behind a display or above a ceiling tile, powered entirely by PoE++ through the same Ethernet cable that carries its AES67 audio. It has its own DSP and Auto Setup, a USB-C port that doubles as a USB-to-AES67 interface, and runs cool in an enclosed space. For a meeting room, a corridor or a single retail bay, it removes the need for a rack altogether.

WM Touch — a 4.3-inch PoE-powered touchscreen in a standard single-gang back box, in black or white. Its layouts are built for music distribution: pick a source, adjust a zone, recall a scene, switch the system on or off. Simple enough for a restaurant manager at the start of a shift. The smaller WMP panels and the Sys Control phone app cover the same functions where a touchscreen is more than the brief needs.

ArmoníaPlus, HealthPlus & MyUniverso — ArmoníaPlus is where we design, configure and tune the system; HealthPlus within it shows live impedance curves, temperatures and voltages for every output and raises an alert when a loudspeaker line changes; and MyUniverso, through a VERSO Gateway or a UNICA amplifier, carries that monitoring to the cloud so we can watch a client’s system from Koramangala.

Why Powersoft

Power Sharing

The amplifier’s total output is a pool, not a fixed figure per channel. A busy zone can draw more while a quiet one draws less, so a system is sized for how the building is actually used rather than for every zone at full level at once — fewer amplifiers, smaller racks.

Efficiency that shows on the bill

Class D output stages, power-factor-corrected supplies and Smart Rails Management, which recovers energy the loudspeaker sends back instead of dissipating it, mean less mains draw, less heat and less air-conditioning in the rack room. UNICA’s Eco Mode idles channels that are not in use.

The DSP is in the amplifier

Equalisation, delay, limiting, crossover and zone routing live on the output channel that needs them. There is one fewer box to buy, power, configure and fail, and the processing is matched to the amplifier and the loudspeaker rather than bolted on in front of them.

It tells you before it breaks

HealthPlus watches every output for impedance drift, open or shorted lines, temperature and mains quality. With MyUniverso that view reaches us remotely, so the first sign of a failing loudspeaker is a message to our office, not a complaint from a guest.

Where we install Powersoft

Hotels and resorts — lobbies, restaurants, bars, banquet halls, spas, pool decks and landscaped grounds on one zoned system; restaurants, cafes and clubs; retail stores and malls; corporate offices, boardrooms and cafeterias; schools, colleges and auditoriums; houses of worship; fitness studios; museums and galleries; theatres, performance venues and event spaces. We pair Powersoft with Omega Pro Audio loudspeakers in venues and installations, and with the Audio Dynamics Matterhorn range in private cinemas that need real headroom.

Powersoft — frequently asked questions

Is Audio Dynamics an authorised Powersoft dealer?

Yes. Audio Dynamics is an authorised Powersoft dealer and systems integrator based in Bangalore. We specify, supply, configure, install and commission Powersoft amplifier platforms, and you are welcome to discuss your project at our Experience Center in Koramangala.

Which Powersoft amplifier do I need for a restaurant or a shop?

For a single room with a few ceiling or surface loudspeakers, a PRIMA 164 or 324 is usually enough and needs no configuration. The moment there is more than one zone — a bar and a dining room, a shop floor and a fitting area — a MEZZO earns its place, because its DSP handles the zoning, equalisation and limiting and its Power Sharing lets one half-rack unit feed four areas. We size it from the loudspeaker count, the cable runs and the level each area has to reach.

Does a Powersoft system need a separate audio processor?

Usually not. Every MEZZO, Quattrocanali, Duecanali and UNICA carries a DSP on each channel, and Powersoft’s Dynamic Music Distribution lets those amplifiers route sources to zones, hold scenes and take commands from WM Touch wall panels. For most hospitality and retail projects the amplifier rack is the whole system. A separate processor is only specified where a project needs mixing, conferencing or paging logic beyond what the amplifiers provide.

Can Powersoft amplifiers drive 70 V / 100 V ceiling speaker lines as well as normal loudspeakers?

Yes, and on the same amplifier. Every channel of PRIMA, MEZZO, Quattrocanali and Duecanali can be set to low impedance (4 Ω or 8 Ω) or to a 70 V or 100 V distributed line, so a pair of full-range loudspeakers in a bar and a string of thirty ceiling speakers in the corridors can share one chassis. Auto Setup measures the connected line and configures the output.

What is Power Sharing and why does it matter?

A conventional amplifier has a fixed rating per channel, so a system has to be sized for every zone at full level simultaneously, which never happens. Powersoft amplifiers pool their total output across the channels: on a MEZZO, a single channel can draw up to 320 W when its neighbours are quiet; on UNICA, a channel can deliver twice its nominal rating. The result is fewer amplifiers, smaller racks and lower running costs for the same coverage.

Can the system be monitored remotely?

Yes. HealthPlus in ArmoníaPlus shows the real-time impedance, temperature and voltage of every output and flags a loudspeaker line that has changed. With a UNICA amplifier, or a VERSO Gateway on the other platforms, that data reaches Powersoft’s MyUniverso cloud, so we can see the state of a client’s system from our office and attend to a fault before it is noticed on site.

Are Powersoft amplifiers suitable for live events and rental?

That is where the company started. The T Series, X Series and UNICA T are built for touring: 1RU chassis, loudspeaker management on board, AES3 and Dante inputs, and a preset library covering more than a thousand loudspeaker models. We supply and configure them for clubs, theatres, auditoriums and event companies, and the same ArmoníaPlus files move between the installed and touring platforms.
