Leema Acoustics was started by Lee Taylor and Mallory Nicholls — two BBC sound engineers whose initials give the company its name. That origin still shows in the products. These are amplifiers built by people who spent their working lives listening to what recordings actually contain, and they are engineered accordingly: dual-mono layouts, heavy toroidal power supplies, and the current delivery to keep a grip on loudspeakers that give lesser amplifiers trouble. Everything is designed and hand-built at the company’s factory in Welshpool, Wales.

Audio Dynamics is the exclusive national distributor for Leema Acoustics in India. We bring the range into the country, appoint and train the dealers who sell it, and look after service and support nationwide. It also means we have heard these amplifiers with a lot of different loudspeakers — so if the pairing you have in mind is not going to work, we would rather tell you before you buy than afterwards.

If you would like to hear a system properly set up, our Experience Center in Koramangala, Bangalore is the place to do it. If you are elsewhere in India, tell us where you are and we will introduce you to your nearest dealer.

Which Leema is right for you?

Leema makes amplification and sources across four ranges. The useful question is not how much you want to spend — it is how you want the system put together, and what your loudspeakers are going to ask of it.

Constellation Series

Leema’s reference line, and the range the company is judged by. Dual-mono construction, heavy toroidal power supplies and the engineering the founders brought with them from the studio. Six components that can be combined into a complete system, or taken one at a time.

  • Leema Tucana II Integrated Amplifier

Tucana II

Constellation Series — Integrated Amplifier

The Tucana II is Leema's flagship integrated amplifier — the successor to the acclaimed original Tucana, carrying shared DNA from Leema's Reference range. A high-current dual-mono design built around three heavy-duty toroidal transformers gives it the grip and authority to drive demanding loudspeakers with effortless dynamic drive, resolution and clarity.

Rated at 150W into 8 ohms, rising to 320W into 2 ohms, with THD of just 0.004% and a noise floor below -100 dB, the Tucana II combines reference-grade performance with everyday flexibility — balanced XLR and six line inputs, individual input gain adjustment, a dedicated headphone output, and full LIPS integration as a master or slave in a Leema system.

  • Leema Tucana II Anniversary Edition Integrated Amplifier

Tucana II Anniversary Edition

Constellation Series — Integrated Amplifier

The Tucana II Anniversary Edition celebrates a decade of the Tucana II with a comprehensively upgraded build, finished with a distinctive chrome-plated front panel. It retains the 150W dual-mono architecture while elevating every component to Reference standard.

The upgrades run deep: double-copper-weight circuit boards that halve PCB impedance, Nichicon MUSE capacitors for greater detail retrieval, Leema's own Reference-grade internal wiring, six hand-selected power transistors per channel, and dual Noratel low-noise transformers. Each unit ships with an individual passport documenting its assembly and testing, and a new Focus remote control.

  • Leema Hydra II Stereo Power Amplifier

Hydra II

Constellation Series — Stereo Power Amplifier

The Hydra II is an intelligent, bridgeable stereo power amplifier offering exceptional flexibility — it can serve as a stereo amplifier or be bridged for mono operation, adapting to a wide range of system configurations while preserving presence, texture, timbre and realistic soundstaging.

Dual massive toroidal transformers and a refined output stage deliver 148W per channel into 8 ohms in stereo, or up to 785W into 4 ohms when bridged — ample power for the most demanding loudspeakers. THD measures 0.004% with a noise floor below -100 dB, and the Hydra II integrates fully into a Leema system via LIPS as master or slave.

  • Leema Hydra II Anniversary Edition Stereo Power Amplifier

Hydra II Anniversary Edition

Constellation Series — Stereo Power Amplifier

The Hydra II Anniversary Edition takes Leema's flexible bridgeable power amplifier and rebuilds it to Reference standard, retaining the dual-mono architecture and bridgeable output while upgrading every key component.

Double-thickness copper circuit boards, Nichicon MUSE capacitors, Leema Reference 2 internal wiring, hand-matched transistors and Noratel transformers lift performance across the board. Output remains 148W per channel into 8 ohms — up to 785W bridged — at 0.004% THD, and each unit carries passport-style documentation confirming its Anniversary Edition status.

  • Leema Libra Pre-amplifier and DAC

Libra

Constellation Series — Pre-amplifier / DAC

The Libra distils decades of professional studio expertise into a complete high-end pre-amplifier and digital-to-analogue converter. At its heart is Leema's proprietary Quattro Infinity balanced multi-DAC topology, which keeps analogue signals in the analogue domain for the lowest possible noise and the widest dynamic range.

Connectivity is exhaustive — three configurable analogue inputs, three coaxial and three optical digital inputs, two AES/EBU, two I2S, and an asynchronous USB input handling 24-bit/384kHz, DXD and DSD. Balanced XLR and single-ended outputs, a built-in headphone amplifier and full pre-amplifier volume control make the Libra the digital and analogue hub of a reference system.

  • Leema Antila IIS Eco CD Player

Antila IIS Eco

Constellation Series — CD Player

The Antila IIS Eco is Leema's latest-generation CD player, pairing exceptional sound quality with sleek design and genuinely user-friendly operation. A custom servo-drive mechanism and Leema's Quattro Infinity balanced multi-DAC work together to reduce noise and distortion to vanishingly low levels.

Distortion measures just 0.0008% at 1 kHz with a 107 dB signal-to-noise ratio, and an eco-friendly low-power standby mode keeps energy use to a minimum. LIPS compliance lets the Antila IIS Eco control volume and input selection directly on a compatible Hydra II amplifier for a seamless single-remote system.

Quantum Series

The newer range: the same design thinking in more compact casework, built around a pre-amplifier and DAC, a power amplifier and a CD player. A natural three-box system, and the usual starting point for separates.

  • Leema Neutron Pre-amplifier and DAC

Neutron

Quantum Series — Pre-amplifier / DAC

The Neutron is the pre-amplifier and DAC of Leema's all-new Quantum range — the first wholly new Leema range in over a decade, designed, engineered and built in Welshpool, Wales. It is a cutting-edge design capable of handling multiple analogue and digital sources with vanishingly low noise and distortion.

An onboard RIAA phono stage supports both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges, while an ESS Sabre 9018 DAC handles three coaxial, three optical and an asynchronous USB digital input. Four line inputs, a balanced XLR input, balanced and single-ended outputs and two subwoofer outputs make the Neutron a remarkably complete and versatile control centre.

  • Leema Graviton Power Amplifier

Graviton

Quantum Series — Power Amplifier

The Graviton is the power amplifier of the Quantum range, built on an exceptionally robust power supply — including what is probably the largest toroidal transformer seen at its price point, with individual reservoir capacitor banks for each channel.

A Class A/B design with six power transistors per channel delivers 150W into 8 ohms and 265W into 4 ohms, with a very low 0.038-ohm output impedance for tight loudspeaker control. The Graviton's character is one of natural, unforced detail — dynamic and revealing without a hint of artificial brightness. A natural partner for the Neutron.

  • Leema Electron CD Player

Electron

Quantum Series — CD Player

The Electron completes the Quantum range — a CD player with a clean, carefully engineered signal path, a quality transport mechanism and a properly designed analogue output stage built around an ESS Sabre 9018 DAC.

The result is effortless, natural and believable detail with a depth of sound rarely achieved at its price point, and a complete absence of fatiguing digital glare. Balanced XLR, single-ended RCA and SPDIF coaxial and optical outputs, plus a 12V trigger input, make it easy to integrate into any system.

100 Series

Four integrated amplifiers — the i85 and i150, and the iD85 and iD150 with digital inputs built in. One box, one remote, and the shortest route into Leema. Add a pair of speakers and you have a system.

  • Leema 100 Series Integrated Amplifier

100 Series

i85, i150, iD85 & iD150 Integrated Amplifiers

The 100 Series is a new generation of high-performance integrated amplifiers, proudly designed and manufactured in Wales. The range comprises four models — the analogue i85 and i150, and the iD85 and iD150 which add a high-performance digital-to-analogue converter — available in black or silver.

Every model is built around massive toroidal transformers with 27,200uF of capacitance per channel, oversized heatsinks and high-current Toshiba output transistors for dynamic control and ultra-low distortion. The i85 and iD85 deliver 85 watts per channel, the i150 and iD150 deliver 150 watts, and all four include an award-winning moving-magnet phono stage, subwoofer outputs and a record loop. The iD models add an ESS Sabre 9028Q2M DAC with an XMOS USB receiver handling up to 32-bit/384kHz.

  • Leema Essential High-Resolution Phono Stage

Essential Phono

Essentials — High-Resolution Phono Stage

The Essential Phono brings the engineering of Leema's Agena Reference Series to an extraordinarily accessible price, delivering performance that comfortably outperforms rivals costing significantly more.

It handles both moving-magnet (36 dB gain) and moving-coil (62 dB gain) cartridges, with a switchable low-frequency filter, and reproduces vinyl with exceptional clarity, dynamic accuracy and soundstage dimensionality. A compact, beautifully made way to give any turntable a genuine high-resolution front end.

What makes a Leema a Leema

Four things run through the whole range, from the 100 Series up to the Constellation components.

Built by studio engineers

Lee Taylor and Mallory Nicholls came from the BBC, where the job was to hear what was actually on the tape. Leema components are voiced by people whose reference is the recording rather than a house sound.

Dual-mono, heavily supplied

The amplifiers are dual-mono designs built around large toroidal transformers — the Tucana II uses three. That reserve is what lets an amplifier keep its composure when a loudspeaker’s impedance drops.

LIPS system control

Leema’s Intelligent Protocol System links the components so a stack of separates behaves as a single system, with one remote and an amplifier acting as master or slave.

Hand-built in Wales

Every component is designed, engineered and assembled at the company’s own factory in Welshpool. It is a small operation, which is why the range changes slowly and models stay in production for years.

Hear Leema Acoustics in Bangalore

Amplifiers are difficult to judge from a specification sheet, and almost impossible to judge in a noisy showroom. Our Experience Center in Koramangala is set up so you can actually tell the difference.

Heard on your speakers

Tell us what you own and we will try to demonstrate on the same loudspeakers, or the closest we have. An amplifier only means something in context.

Bring your own music

Bring the records and files you know best. Familiar material tells you far more about an amplifier than an unfamiliar audiophile demonstration disc.

Compared honestly

We will put two options up against each other at matched levels. If the cheaper one is right for your system, that is what we will tell you.

Leema Acoustics in India — frequently asked questions

What is Leema Acoustics?

A British high-end audio manufacturer founded by Lee Taylor and Mallory Nicholls, two former BBC sound engineers whose initials give the company its name. Every Leema component is designed, engineered and hand-built at the company’s factory in Welshpool, Wales.

Which Leema amplifier should I choose?

It depends on how you want the system built. The 100 Series integrated amplifiers are the shortest route in — one box and done. The Tucana II is the flagship integrated for those who want everything in a single chassis. If you prefer separates, pair the Neutron or Libra with a Graviton or Hydra II power amplifier. What your loudspeakers demand matters more than any of this, so tell us what you are driving.

What is LIPS on Leema components?

LIPS is Leema’s Intelligent Protocol System. It links Leema components so a stack of separates behaves as one system, with a single remote and coordinated operation, and lets an amplifier act as master or slave within that system.

Will a Leema amplifier drive my loudspeakers?

Usually — and it is the right question to ask first. Leema amplifiers are high-current dual-mono designs built around heavy toroidal power supplies, which is what lets them hold on to difficult loudspeaker loads. Tell us which speakers you own or are considering and we will tell you honestly whether the pairing works.
