JBL Professional has been building loudspeakers for the world’s stages, cinemas, stadiums and commercial venues since 1946, and its installed-sound catalogue is the most complete in the industry. The Application Engineered (AE) Series has set the standard for permanent installation loudspeakers — a single family that scales from an ultra-compact 5-inch cabinet to a 15-inch three-way system, with the coverage patterns, rigging hardware and finishes that let a designer solve almost any room. Alongside it, the All-Weather and Control 80 landscape ranges take the same engineering outdoors. Which JBL range suits your venue?
Four families cover almost every commercial requirement — and they are designed to be mixed within one building:
- AE Series main models — large-format point source for auditoriums, clubs, houses of worship and sports venues (AM5212 to AM7315).
- AE Compact — AC15 to AC28 — high-output sound from small cabinets, for bars, lounges, studios and performance rooms.

AE Series — Application Engineered
AM5212, AM5215, AM7212, AM7215 & AM7315
The AE Series is JBL’s flagship installed-sound line, built around Differential Drive® low-frequency transducers and large-format Progressive Transition™ waveguides. Every model is offered in a choice of coverage patterns — 60° x 40°, 60° x 60°, 90° x 50°, 100° x 100° and 120° x 60° — so the loudspeaker is matched to the room rather than the room to the loudspeaker. Multiple M10 suspension points allow proper flown installation, and cabinets are available in black or white.
AM7215 & AM7212 — the high-output 15-inch and 12-inch two-way models. The AM7215 is rated at 600 W continuous in passive mode (1000 W AES for the low-frequency section bi-amped) and reaches 128 dB-SPL continuous average from the LF section, making it the choice for large worship spaces, clubs and sports venues.
AM5215 & AM5212 — the same coverage-pattern choices and installation hardware in a more economical package, rated at 350 W continuous passive with 125 dB-SPL continuous average LF output. Ideal where AE performance is wanted at moderate levels.
AM7315 — a 15-inch three-way system with a dedicated midrange section, available in 60° x 40° and 90° x 50° with a rotatable waveguide. The three-way design keeps vocals clear and natural at the high levels required by large venues.
AE Compact — the AC Series
AC15, AC25, AC16, AC26, AC18 & AC28
The AC models bring AE Series performance to spaces where a full-size cabinet simply will not fit. Eight two-way systems run from a single 5.25-inch “point-and-shoot” box up to dual 8-inch systems, all sharing the same voicing so they can be mixed through a building without an audible change in character.
AC15 & AC25 — ultra-compact 5.25-inch models with a 1-inch dome tweeter and 90° x 90° coverage; the AC15 handles 300 W programme in an enclosure small enough to sit almost anywhere.
AC16 & AC26 — 6.5-inch models that step up to a 1-inch exit compression driver on a PT™ waveguide for extra clarity and crisp detail, at 320 W programme.
AC18 & AC28 — 8-inch and dual 8-inch systems, 375 W and 700 W AES respectively, with rotatable Progressive Transition waveguides giving a choice of 120° x 60° or 90° x 50° coverage in either vertical or horizontal orientation, plus an FIR tuning set for optimised frequency and phase response.
All models take dual Neutrik NL4 connectors plus screw terminals, and accept U-bracket, OmniMount-type and stand-mount accessories.
AC full-range systems & subwoofers
AC895, AC195, AC266, AC299, AC566, AC599, AC115S & AC118S
Six full-range systems and two subwoofers make up the AE expansion line — the practical workhorses of commercial installation. Fourteen M10 suspension points and four M8 mounting points are built into every full-range cabinet, with U-brackets and wall-mount accessories available, in black or white textured finishes.
AC895 & AC195 — 8-inch and 10-inch two-way systems with a 90° x 50° field-rotatable Progressive Transition waveguide. The AC895 is rated 250 W AES; the AC195 steps up with a 1.5-inch voice-coil compression driver.
AC266 & AC299 — 12-inch two-way systems in 60° x 60° and 90° x 90° patterns. The AC299 handles 350 W AES and reaches 121 dB maximum SPL with 97 dB sensitivity — a very efficient way to cover a restaurant, gym or retail floor.
AC566 & AC599 — 15-inch two-way systems, again in 60° x 60° and 90° x 90°, for larger rooms and higher levels.
AC115S & AC118S — single 15-inch and 18-inch subwoofers with long-excursion drivers and large ports, in robust 18 mm multi-ply hardwood enclosures. The AC118S is rated 600 W AES. Add them when a venue hosts live bands, DJs or event nights.
Outdoor — All-Weather AW & AWC
AW266, AW295, AW526, AW566, AW595 & AWC62, AWC82, AWC129, AWC159, AWC15LF
Terraces, poolsides, courtyards and outdoor dining need loudspeakers built for monsoon, salt air and sun — not indoor cabinets under a canopy. The JBL All-Weather family is engineered for exactly that, with 70V/100V transformers included so a large outdoor area can run as a distributed system.
AWC Compact — AWC62, AWC82, AWC129, AWC159 — coaxial two-way models from 6.5-inch to 15-inch, rated IP56, with Kevlar-reinforced cones and consistent broadband pattern control (110° x 110° on the AWC62, 120° x 120° on the AWC82, 90° x 90° on the AWC129 and AWC159). The coaxial layout gives unusually clear speech from a compact box — ideal where the same system carries music and announcements. Each includes a 200 W 70V/100V transformer and can also run 8 ohm direct. The AWC15LF adds outdoor low-frequency reinforcement down to 45 Hz.
AW full-size — AW266, AW295, AW526, AW566, AW595 — 12-inch and 15-inch two-way systems using JBL Differential Drive® woofers and the 2432H compression driver on large-format PT™ waveguides, in 60° x 60°, 90° x 50° and 120° x 60° patterns, several with rotatable waveguides. Enclosures are multilayer glass composite, heavily braced, with a 14-gauge stainless steel grille backed by open-cell foam and stainless mesh. The AW566 is rated 600 W with 128 dB maximum SPL; a 400 W 70/100V transformer and heavy-duty U-bracket are included, and the bracket allows flat-surface or 90° corner mounting.
Landscape & garden
Control 85M, Control 88M, Control 89MS, GSF & GSB
Where speakers should be heard and not seen, the Control 80 Series mushroom-style landscape loudspeakers give 360° coverage from a tough polyethylene enclosure that resists lawn-care equipment and the elements — the colour runs right through the material, so scratches do not show. They mount on or in the ground and blend into planting in resorts, hotels, restaurants, gardens and entrance areas.
Control 85M — 5.25-inch coaxial with a 0.75-inch weather-resistant soft-dome tweeter, 80 W pink noise power handling in 8 ohm mode plus a 30 W 70V/100V multi-tap transformer, 65 Hz – 16 kHz.
Control 88M — the 8-inch version with a 1-inch tweeter, 120 W pink noise handling and a 60 W transformer, 60 Hz – 15 kHz, for larger areas or higher levels.
Control 89MS — an above-ground landscape subwoofer with a 200 mm long-throw driver, 150 W pink noise handling and an 80 W subwoofer-band transformer, to give outdoor areas real low end.
GSF & GSB garden series — GSF full-range satellites on ground spikes with matching GSB in-ground subwoofers, for lawn and garden zones in hospitality, corporate and retail landscaping.

Progressive Transition™
JBL’s waveguide geometry delivers even coverage right to the edge of the pattern with low distortion. On many models the waveguide is rotatable, so one cabinet works in either orientation and coverage can be tuned to the room.

Most installation models include 70V/100V transformers with multiple taps, so dozens of speakers can share long cable runs and each zone can be balanced at the speaker — the practical way to cover a hotel, restaurant or retail floor.
Weather engineering
IP56-rated AWC models, fibreglass AW enclosures with stainless grilles, and polyethylene landscape cabinets whose colour runs through the material. Specified correctly, outdoor JBL survives Indian monsoon and coastal air for years.

What is the difference between the JBL AE Series and the AC Series?
Both belong to JBL’s Application Engineered family. The AE main models — AM5212, AM5215, AM7212, AM7215 and the three-way AM7315 — are large-format point-source loudspeakers for high-output venues, offered in several fixed coverage patterns. The AC models are the compact and full-range members of the same family, from the ultra-compact AC15 up to the 15-inch AC599, sized for bars, restaurants, retail and worship spaces where a full-size AE cabinet would be too large.
Which JBL loudspeakers are suitable for outdoor use in Indian conditions?
The JBL All-Weather range is built for it. The AWC Compact models are IP56 rated with Kevlar-reinforced coaxial drivers, and the full-size AW models use all-fibreglass enclosures with 14-gauge stainless steel grilles backed by open-cell foam and stainless mesh. Both include 70V/100V transformers for distributed systems. For gardens and landscaping, the Control 80 Series and the GSF/GSB garden ranges are designed to be mounted on or in the ground.
What coverage pattern should I choose for my venue?
Coverage pattern determines how sound is distributed across the audience. Narrow patterns such as 60° x 40° throw further and suit long rooms and distant seating; wider patterns such as 120° x 60° or 90° x 90° cover broad, shallow spaces evenly. Several JBL models use rotatable Progressive Transition waveguides, so the same cabinet works vertically or horizontally. We model the room and specify the pattern rather than guessing.
Do I need a 70V/100V distributed system or 8-ohm speakers?
A 70V or 100V line system is the usual choice when many loudspeakers cover a large area — background music and paging across a hotel, restaurant or retail floor — because it allows long cable runs and simple tap-based level setting at each speaker. Low-impedance 8-ohm wiring suits smaller zones and higher-output foreground systems. Most JBL installation models support both, and we specify whichever suits the layout.
Can JBL Professional systems handle both background music and live performance?
Yes — that is the advantage of specifying from one family. AWC and Control models handle background music and paging, while AE Series and AC Series cabinets with subwoofers such as the AC115S and AC118S deliver the headroom needed for live bands, DJs and event nights in the same venue.
Do you design and commission the complete system, not just supply speakers?
Yes. Loudspeaker choice is only part of a working system. We handle coverage design, amplifier and DSP selection, zoning, cabling and commissioning, and we tune the finished system in the room so intelligibility and level are consistent everywhere.
